Why Winner2308 laser particle size analyzer could test min size is 0.01 micron?

For Winner2308A intelligent laser particle size analyzer (wet: 0.01 micron-2000 micron / dry 0.1 micron-2000 micron, light source use 2 kinds of laser, one is He-Ne Red Laser λ=632.8nm, P>2mW, auxiliary source: blue laser λ=405nm, P>2mW.)we use full MIE Scattering theory, measurement Min size is 10 nm.

The  lower limit is reference to 2 factors.

 

1 is MIE scattering theory, 

According to the theory,  The larger the particle, the stronger of the forward scattering , and the weaker the backward scattering  

The smaller the particle, the faster the forward scattering weakens and the stronger the backward scattering.

When the particle size is small to a certain extent (such as less than one tenth of the wavelength), the intensity distribution becomes two approximate symmetrical circles, which are called Rayleigh scattering. Therefore, the maximum particle size that generates Rayleigh scattering is the lower limit of the laser particle size analyzer.

So general Lower limit is 405nm/10≈0.0405 micron.

 

2 is laser wavelength.

The longer the laser wavelength, the larger the lower limit of measurement is; the smaller the laser wavelength is, the smaller the lower limit of measurement is. The results show that the laser particle size analyzer with both forward and backward scattering light measurement technology and differential scattering spectrum identification technology has a measurement limit of 20 nm when red light (wavelength 635 nanometer) is used as light source and 10 nm when blue light (wavelength 405 nanometer) is used as light source.

 

 

Therefore Winner2308A could test min size is 0.01 micron.
